The Rio Grande Valley Builders Association (RGVBA) in partnership with the high-performance home initiative, BUILT TO SAVE™, hosted a seminar for builders and building industry professionals on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the Radisson Hotel McAllen Airport in McAllen, Texas.

The seminar included a presentation from the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) on the new 2019-2021 Texas Residential Construction Contracts package. TAB’s presenter, Don Shelton, (Bush Rudnicki Shelton, P.C.), spoke about the new legislatively-mandated requirements, including over 50 additions and enhancements made to the various contracts and agreements in the new contracts package. The new contracts are available only to TAB members and can be purchased online for $399.99 (plus tax).

The luncheon meeting also included presentations from Luis Adame (Texas Gas Service); Garrett Dorsey III (AEP Texas); Abraham Quiroga (Magic Valley Electric Cooperative); and Jose Vielma (BUILT TO SAVE™).

The utility companies spoke about the many generous rebates that are available to builders, and, in the case of Texas Gas Service, also homebuyers. The generous rebates are based on a variety of criteria specific to each program. You are urged to contact the company representatives for specifics on their rebate program.

The RGVBA’s executive director, Marcy Alamia, hosted the successful meeting which included a delicious lunch, many gift card giveaways, and other door prizes for the attending builders. In addition to the above-named utility companies, the event was also sponsored by Sierra Title of Hidalgo County.

To become a member of the RGVBA (which includes membership in TAB and NAHB), please contact the RGVBA office at (956) 686-2932 or email rgvbam@sbcglobal.net for more information.
