U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Miguel Angel Simental Receives Mortgage-Free Home
On Thursday, August 22, 2019, Purple Heart recipient Corporal Miguel Angel Simental and his family received a home from Operation FINALLY HOME, a nationally recognized non-profit organization with a mission of providing mortgage-free custom homes to wounded veterans and their families. The dedication took place at Las Villas Del Rio at The Groves on Shary in McAllen, Texas.
The home, built by Verturo Construction, was made possible with the support of many donors and suppliers. The project’s major sponsors included Verturo Interests, LLC; H-E-B; and the City of McAllen.
H-E-B, as part of Operation Appreciation, contributed time, talent, and financial support for the build. Since 2013, H-E-B and the H-E-B Tournament of Champions have helped provide 26 mortgage-free homes to those in need. The City of McAllen waived several building-related fees. In addition, a large grant was awarded for this project from the McAllen Housing Finance Corporation.
